SGUnited Traineeships and Mid-Career Pathways Programmes

Important Notes

1. No application fees are required for participation in the Programmes. 

2. Development Plan - Host companies are required to declare all cost-cutting and retrenchment measures taken over the last six months, and to submit a development plan for every traineeship and mid-career position to SBF for assessment. SBF will then review and approve the application based on criteria set forth by Workforce Singapore (WSG). As these are traineeship programmes, host companies are required to follow strictly the development plan that has been developed for each trainee. 

3. Agreement between host organisation and trainee – Upon SBF’s approval of the application, host companies may source for and offer the approved traineeship/ attachment to their selected candidates. To formalise the traineeship/attachment, an agreement will be signed between the host company and the trainee. SBF is not a party to the signed agreement. Trainees should carefully evaluate the terms and conditions of the agreement before signing them.

4. Deadline for Registration of Interest - Host organisations who are keen to participate in the programme will need to register your interest by 31 January 2022 to allow for sufficient time to shortlist and onboard trainees. All traineeships/attachments must commence by 31 March 2022.

Important Notice for Host Companies of SGUnited Traineeships / Mid-Career Pathways (Company Attachments) Programme

1. Development Plan

HOs are required to adhere to the approved Individual Development Plan for onboarded trainees, where specific requirements and expectations are clearly stated and agreed between the HO and trainee: 

  • Clear and sufficiently detailed scope of duties in accordance with the job description and position
  • Provide trainees with meaningful developmental opportunities during the traineeship period
  • Development goals that provide meaningful skillsets/experiences to the individual after the traineeship period
  • A structure in place to ensure training – this can include assigning mentor, having training milestones, or having some form of guided or structured OJT
  • HOs and Trainee must sign off on the monthly traineeship development plan.

 
2. Payment of Training Allowance

HOs are to pay their trainees fully and on time. HOs must keep a proper record of all the payment for trainees’ allowance. Payment via cash is strongly discouraged.


3. Additional Payments & Agreements

Trainees on the programme are to be paid only with the approved training allowance stipend stated in the attachment agreement. Please ensure the following:

  • There should not be any separate contractual agreements with the trainee to top up their allowance beyond the approved programme stipends
  • No additional monetary benefits of any kind should be paid to trainees  to top up above the approved training allowance


4. Overtime

HOs must adhere to the contractual work hours as agreed by HO and trainee. HOs are to ensure no additional work time is imposed on the trainee beyond the agreed working hours.

The stipulated working hours of the trainee is stated in Annex A of the Attachment Agreement which the trainee is expected to carry out the duties assigned by their host organisation. It does not include any intervals allowed for rest, tea breaks and meals.

Role of SBF

SBF has been appointed by Workforce Singapore (WSG) as the Programme Manager for both the SGUnited Traineeships and Mid-Career Pathways Programmes. SBF will continue to help onboard interested host organisations to bring in new fresh graduates and mid-career individuals to support their business needs. Approved host organisations will also be able to tap on government support during the traineeship/attachment period in preparation of the economic recovery.
