SBF Looks Forward to Strategic Partnership with Enterprise Singapore to Help Singapore Companies Better Seize International Opportunities

14 March 2019 [Singapore] - Enterprise Singapore (ESG) announced its key strategies for 2019 and beyond at its 2018 Year-in-review media conference today. During the media conference, ESG shared that its three priorities on helping our local enterprises grow will be raising productivity, strengthening innovation, and accelerating internationalisation. SBF endorses these priorities.

Since the formation of ESG on 1 April 2018 as the single agency championing the growth of Singapore companies of all sizes, SBF has worked closely with ESG to help companies on their growth journey, particularly in the area of internationalisation, where SBF has built up a rich network and ecosystem of international linkages.

SBF Chairman Mr S.S. Teo said, “As Singapore’s apex business chamber with over 26,000 members, SBF is in a unique position to help our local companies penetrate new markets and tap the Singapore ecosystem and capabilities of our companies to thrive where there are opportunities. We endorse the three priority areas announced by Enterprise Singapore.

“SBF is currently working with Enterprise Singapore on a strategic partnership that will enable us to serve our members and the wider business community by helping them to start on their internationalisation journey more easily and better seize the opportunities present in ASEAN and other markets. This is in line with insights gleaned from our latest SBF National Business Survey 2018/2019, where more than half of the respondents that were keen to explore overseas markets indicated that they need help in establishing contacts and understanding compliance, regulations, and standards. We look forward to partnering Enterprise Singapore to support and drive the growth and transformation of Singapore enterprises in Singapore and abroad.”

SBF CEO, Mr Ho Meng Kit said, “The enhanced support from Enterprise Singapore comes at an opportune time as many of our companies are actively looking beyond Singapore shores for growth. But venturing overseas alone can be daunting for many of these companies as it involves risk and a significant outlay of resources and time. Through SBF’s well-established network in the region and beyond, we can help our firms obtain quality business leads, connect with potential business partners and gain market exposure. We look forward to partnering closely with Enterprise Singapore to shift the global expansion of our companies into high gear.”
