SBF’s Singapore Productivity Awards 2016 honours 10 enterprises

  • Ten organisations in six sectors are recognised for their leadership and initiatives exemplifying productivity excellence
  • The organisations demonstrated winning productivity strategies involving people management, advocating innovation, embracing technology and excellent customer service
11 November 2016 [Singapore] - Ten organisations across six sectors were honoured this evening at the Singapore Productivity Awards 2016 Gala Dinner. Held at the Shangri-La Hotel, the award ceremony was graced by Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) Mr S Iswaran. An initiative by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), the Awards recognise enterprises that have demonstrated excellence in productivity and their winning strategies in staying resilient and viable amid the persistently tepid global and domestic economy.

The 10 winners across six sectors are listed below (for their profiles, please refer to the Annex).

Mr Ho Meng Kit, CEO of SBF, said “The 10 winners have exhibited outstanding performance in productivity with best practices and traits such as visionary leadership, continuous drive towards productivity, efficiency and effectiveness, focus on people and customer excellence, as well as embracing innovation and technology. We hope these winners will serve as role models for other businesses to emulate in their productivity journey.”

Mr Lawrence Leow, Chairman of the Singapore Productivity Awards Panel Committee, said “This year’s winners have shown us that with clear vision and commitment, higher productivity can be achieved despite tough economic conditions. The winners have leveraged technology and innovation to improve efficiency and investment in people to build new capabilities. We have also seen examples where productivity initiatives originated from employees. It is heartening to note that these companies are advocating a culture where everyone contributes to increasing productivity. This is the kind of mindset that will drive businesses to excel and distinguish themselves from the field.”

Assessment Criteria of Singapore Productivity Awards 2016

The Awards adopt a two-pronged approach of quantitative and qualitative assessments. For the quantitative assessment, companies are evaluated based on their labour productivity and nine other productivity composite indicators using the Integrated Management of Productivity Activities (IMPACT) framework. For the qualitative assessment, companies are evaluated on various aspects from leadership and strategy, people management, processes and technology to customer engagement.

The Awards are supported by knowledge partner, DP Information Group, and the Awards Panel Committee comprises key representatives from SBF, SPRING Singapore, Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Restaurant Association of Singapore, Singapore Hotel Association, Singapore infocomm Technology Federation, Singapore Logistics Association, Singapore Manufacturing Federation, Singapore National Employers Federation and Singapore Retailers Association.
