SBF Statement in Support of Assistance Effort to Communities Affected by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Outbreak
Tuesday, 4 February 2020 [Singapore] – The Singapore Business Federation strongly supports the effort of Singapore and the Singapore Red Cross to render assistance and support to communities and families in China who are affected or are at risk of being affected by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak. We note that the Singapore government will contribute seed money towards the public appeal.
SBF will rally our members and the Singapore business community to contribute to this effort with the Singapore Red Cross to help the communities in need. These efforts will go a long way to prevent further transmission of the virus and help communities worst affected to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Mr S.S. Teo, SBF Chairman said, “It has been a challenging time, especially for those in the frontline fighting the coronavirus outbreak. China has taken strong measures to stop the spread of the virus, and we are confident in China’s ability to fight the disease. The business communities in China and Singapore enjoy long-standing and wide-ranging relationship that extends beyond trade. The fight against this virus is not China’s alone, but the world’s. We will work closely with the Singapore Red Cross to raise funds for its efforts.”
