SBF Welcomes New Council Members for 2022-2024 Term; Chairman Lim Ming Yan Re-elected for Second Term

Thursday, 23 June 2022 [Singapore] – To guide the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in charting its way forward and championing a future-ready business community, the Federation unveiled its new Council for the 2022-2024 term at its 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) today.  

The new Council comprises 13 elected members, 12 representatives from Trade Associations and Chambers, and 1 co-opted member, making for a total of 26 Council Members.

Eight members were newly appointed / elected to the Council. They are:

Immediately following the 20th AGM, the new Council held its first meeting, where Mr Lim Ming Yan was re-elected as SBF Chairman for his second consecutive two-year term. The new Council also elected the following officeholders:

SBF Chairman Mr Lim Ming Yan said, “SBF celebrates our 20th anniversary this year, and it is with the strong support of many past and present Council Members, business leaders, and industry partners, that we have managed to deliver different programmes and services to our members. Our seven outgoing Council Members have served the Federation well, providing insights into business concerns and developments to shape our work. I thank them for their contributions and leadership. I also warmly welcome the new Council and look forward to working closely with Council Members to keep a close watch on the fast-evolving changes in our business landscape. With their support, SBF will continue to support our members in their business goals and aspirations.”

Following the AGM, more than 140 SBF members engaged Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Gan Kim Yong in a hybrid Ministerial Dialogue, moderated by newly elected SBF Council Member and CEO, Klareco Communications Pte Ltd Ms Ang Shih-Huei. Mr Gan shared his views and perspectives on the Singapore Economy 2030 vision, which includes accelerating the development of new engines of growth in services; building up a strong manufacturing sector; strengthening the core capabilities of local enterprises and growing a pool of Singapore Global Enterprises; and enhancing trade and strengthening our connectivity to the world.
